A very busy night at Haileybury Turnford!
“My daughter walked out with a smile and is looking forward to joining”: Praise from parents after a record-breaking event at Haileybury Turnford. A record number of people filled Haileybury Turnford for a special Open Evening last night.
It was a chance for prospective parents to be shown around with their sons and daughters who are considering joining the school.
There were drama showcases, dance, music and trampolining as well as exciting science experiments in newly-refurbished labs, design technology demonstrations and much more.
“I’ve been around a few schools in the last few weeks and I have to say yours [Haileybury Turnford] was the best” said one parent. She added “every teacher said hello and helped with any questions we had, and the children that showed us around were polite and relaxed. My daughter walked out with a smile and is looking forward to joining the school.”
Principal Robin Newman addressed visitors and highlighted an upsurge in academic performance and the superb range of co-curricular activities on offer.
There were also speeches from Year 7 and 8 students Andie Smyth, Kaitlyn Mungaroo and Henry Atkinson, Head Boy James Evenden and Head Girl Lauren Wollaston-Smith. James explained how a unique partnership with independent school Haileybury meant he was able to spend time in Australia over the summer.
Parents also commented that all teachers were “welcoming and very enthusiastic.” Others said that their student tour guide was “fantastic” and the students were “clearly very proud of their school.”
There are further opportunities to visit the school each morning at 9.00am from 26th September to 4th October. Parents simply need to contact the school’s reception on 01992 308333 to book onto a tour.
