A number of Brookland Junior School children who are joining Haileybury Turnford this September were invited to a special pilot Summer School during August. Students experienced a range of lessons including Drama, Dance, Business, Maths and Literacy but more importantly they were able to explore Haileybury Turnford and become familiar with their surroundings, taking part in a range of orienteering activities throughout all parts of the school. New students feel overwhelmed sometimes with their new surroundings, however by the end of their two day experience they were able to confidently navigate their way around the site in a way that will give them confidence on their first days at Haileybury Turnford. Logan Paulding (Brookland Junior school student) said that “I feel so much better now that I know where I am going! I will be able to help others as well! I am really looking forward to starting next week.”
Haileybury Turnford will be looking to expand this pilot in the summer of 2020 offering all those allocated to Haileybury Turnford a 2 day Summer School as well as providing Year 5 children the opportunity to spend 2 days with us prior to their Open Evening in September 2020.
Brookland Junior School children who attended the Summer School in September were an absolute credit to their school and we look forward to working with them in the future as well as welcoming future students in the summer of 2020 to experience all that Haileybury Turnford has to offer.
Open Evening for entry into Year 7 in September 2020 takes place at Haileybury Turnford on Tuesday 24th September. Come and visit us between 5.30pm-8.00pm to see our school, including our brand new science laboratories.
