On Tuesday 25th June the school was closed to enable staff, as well as a number of visiting teachers from Haileybury and other schools to take part in a training conference all day. This was an excellent opportunity for staff to engage in a number of workshops, with a particular focus on raising achievement for students with special educational needs.
We had the good fortune of securing two excellent guest speakers –Ross Morrison McGill and Sue Cowley – both well known and respected in the world of education. We also had an excellent training session delivered to all staff by DSPL4 – a local provider of specialist provision – who trained staff on how we can best support our students with Autism.
Staff also had the opportunity to network with colleagues, with a number of colleagues presenting best practice from their classrooms.
In the afternoon staff took part in a number of team building and wellbeing activities.
The day was well received by all, with the following comments being made:
‘’I would change nothing about the day. It was the best training day I have had in 10 years of being at the school.’’
‘’Really high quality training; very well organised.’’
