Music and Instrumental Lessons

Instrumental Lessons

Haileybury Turnford has students who enjoy learning an instrument at school. We have visiting instrumental teachers in the following instruments:

  • Drum Kit
  • Acoustic Guitar, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar
  • Voice
  • Violin,
  • Piano, Keyboard

Tuition is possible for both beginners and more experienced students.

Fees for 11 lessons per term are as follows:

  • 30 minutes shared tuition £110
  • Individual 20 minute lessons £148.50
  • Individual 30 minute lessons £220

Tuition takes place during normal school lesson time with students missing part of different lessons each week.  It may be possible to arrange tuition during lunch time.  Please speak to the Subject Leader regarding this.

Please note that it is not always viable to offer 30 minutes shared tuition (due to needing two students of a similar standard). Therefore, please indicate on the application form whether you would be interested in 20 minutes’ individual tuition instead.

As soon as a place is available an invoice for a term’s fees will be sent directly to you.

Fees are payable in advance at the beginning of each term. Prompt payment of fees would be most appreciated.

A half term’s notice is required in writing to the school should you wish to alter or cease tuition.  If insufficient notice is given you will be liable for fees in lieu of notice.

Registration for instrumental lessons

Haileybury Turnford has a team of visiting instrumental teachers who between them can give tuition in guitar, piano/keyboard, drums and voice. If you wish your child to have instrumental lessons, please register your child for instrumental lessons online with Hertfordshire Music Service.

Please Click Here to register for lessons and follow the instructions.

Your child cannot register themselves. Registration must be done by you, the parent/carer.

Instrumental lessons will be able to start in school once you have registered your child.

Insurance and Storage

Please ensure that instruments are clearly named and are easily identifiable.  Locked rooms are available for storing instruments but we advise you to add the instrument to your home contents insurance.  There is the opportunity to purchase instruments at low-cost or to hire from the school.

If you would like lessons, please complete and return the application form which is available from Mrs Nicholson.
