Haileybury Academy Trust

Haileybury Academy Trust is an academy trust sponsored by Haileybury, the leading co-educational boarding school, and is responsible for Haileybury Turnford.  The Trust is responsible for all aspects of Haileybury Turnford and sets the strategic vision for the school, ensuring the school meets the needs of its students and that there is excellence in all areas of school life, as well as financial security.

Founded in 1862, Haileybury is a leading co-educational independent school for boarding and day pupils aged 11-18, nestled in 500 acres of stunning Hertfordshire countryside just 20 miles north of London. With over 150 years of rich history, we provide a rewarding education that goes beyond academic achievement, fostering personal growth, integrity, and a sense of global citizenship.

Famous former students have included prime minister Clement Attlee, playwright Alan Ayckbourn, film director Christopher Nolan Jamie George (England rugby) and Sam Billings (England cricket).

Our Haileybury Connection

In 2015, The Secretary of State approved Haileybury College’s sponsorship of Haileybury Turnford. Since this time, there has been growing collaboration between our collective educators and pupils. Through this alliance, Haileybury Turnford pupils enjoy access to certain programmes, campus grounds, and attend a number of enrichment opportunities throughout the year. In return, Haileybury has benefited from Haileybury Turnford’s professional expertise in mentoring and its close community links. We build on the sponsor’s tradition of aspiration, achievement and excellence, while offering our students plenty of practical support and some wonderful opportunities in and outside the classroom.

Haileybury Turnford’s most able Science and Latin students benefit from lessons from Haileybury teachers, while exam groups have revision workshops at Haileybury. There are opportunities for ambitious Haileybury Turnford Sixth Form students to have additional advice and interview practice at Haileybury as they prepare for university application.

There are opportunities outside of lessons too: our Year 10 students enroll as cadets with the Haileybury Combined Cadet Force (CCF). We can make use of some of the world class facilities at Haileybury, our dancers take part in Haileybury’s ‘Dance Showcase’ our scientists take part in scientific events and we hold an annual Carol Service in the school’s stunning chapel.

Our teachers also share ideas with Haileybury colleagues and work together to develop skills and improve teaching and learning for our students.

Haileybury Turnford is one of the few academies in the country to be sponsored by a leading independent school and we our own students share the same kind of ambition, pride and success of our Haileybury partners.
