Remembrance Day – 8th November

Remembrance Sunday is a solemn day dedicated to honouring British and Commonwealth service members who died in the two World Wars and later conflicts. Marked by the red poppy, moments of national silence, and wreath-laying at memorials, it offers a collective pause to reflect on sacrifice and loss. It grew from Armistice Day in 1919, when King George V introduced a two-minute silence to mark the end of World War I, later shifting to a Sunday observance after World War II to commemorate the fallen of both wars.

Staff and students at HT will commemorate this on Wednesday 11th November with our Cadets in a ceremony, readings and Last Post.
