Train to Teach

At Haileybury Turnford we offer a range of Initial Teacher Training options, with us as your “home school”.

Experienced candidates may be able to access a salaried school-based PGCE or PGTA route once they have been recruited into a post at our school. We will also support experienced colleagues who join us to obtain QTS through the Assessment Only Route. We also offer unsalaried school-based routes and for many subject areas there are bursaries available for unsalaried trainees.

You would spend the majority of your training year at Haileybury Turnford being looked after by experienced subject mentors and a lead professional mentor. You would complete your second placement in a school of your choice or one of our partnership schools.

Full details of the training routes described are available here, through our partnership with Alban Teaching School Hub who are an outstanding provider (Ofsted, 2023). We work closely with Alban Teaching School Hub for our Early Career Teacher Entitlement and wider professional development, giving us access to a wealth of experts and school settings for second placements.

We also work with a local school-based training provider, if proximity to Cheshunt is a priority. Details of this partnership with Goffs Academy can be found here.

We welcome school visits by prospective trainees to see our school in action and meet the Teaching and Learning Team. Please get in touch with Mrs Durso if you would like to visit us and find out more about training at our school.
