Year 13 Exam Results – August 2017

Year 13 students at Haileybury Turnford are celebrating their exam results in this year’s A level and vocational examinations.  This year sees the first results for the new reformed linear A Levels.

The majority of students have won places at their first choice of university, including Louise Bliss, Elliott Brady, Jessica Jarvis and Nisha Patel.  Adam Merry has been accepted to a higher level apprenticeship at GSK in ICT.

The school has had excellent results in a wide range of A Level subjects including English Literature, Maths, Physics, Geography and Economics.  There has also been real student success across the range of vocational subjects offered with many top grades achieved in Business, ICT, Health & Social Care and Art.

This year’s highest achievers include Nisha Patel who has secured a place at UCL studying Geography following her impressive results in Maths, Geography and Economics.  Jessica Jarvis has secured a place at Reading University studying Neuroscience following her excellent results in Chemistry, Biology and Psychology.  Charlie Nicholls is going to be reading Physics at Southampton University following his wonderful results in Maths, Media and Physics.

Principal Robin Newman said: “We are immensely proud of each one of our students. They have worked incredibly hard across the two years of their sixth form studies and we wish them success and the best of luck for the future.  I would like to add my gratitude to our committed teachers and the support from parents during our students’ time at the school.”

We know they are all capable of great things because of the independence and perseverance they have learned over the last two years.”

Haileybury Turnford, sponsored by Haileybury in Hertford Heath, has a comprehensive sixth form whose students benefit from the support from its sponsor.  For students who are looking to apply to sixth form for September 2018, its Open Evening will be on 23rd November 2017.  Haileybury Turnford welcome applications from students who wish to follow both academic and vocational pathways.


Year 11 Exam Results – August 2017

Haileybury Turnford students are celebrating their exam results in this year’s GCSE and vocational examinations.  This year sees the first results for the new reformed GCSE qualifications in Maths, English Language and English Literature with more challenging content and exams graded in the new way, with 9 as the highest mark and 1 the lowest.

Students have been hugely successful in the new Maths, English Language and English Literature exams, with very many delighted students.  A number of students have achieved the highest grades in these new qualifications which is testament to their very hard work and the dedication of their teachers.  There has also been real success across a wide range of subjects including GCSE Media, Product Design and PE, with many high grades also awarded in BTEC Business and Drama.

Amongst the school’s highest achievers were John Pearce with a grade 9 in both Maths and English as well as 3 A* and 3 A grades.  Bethany Boatin achieved two grade 8s in Maths and English as well as 4 other A grades.  Matthew Curry was also a stand out performer with a grade 9 in English and an 8 in Maths as well as 1 A* and 5 A grades.  All 3 students plan to study for A Levels at Haileybury Turnford.  Another top performer was Daisy Jarvis who achieved two grade 8s in Maths and English as well as 3 A* and 1 A grade.  She plans to study Economics, History, PE and Sociology at A Level.

Principal Robin Newman said: “We are pleased with our Year 11 results today.  I have had the privilege of working with our students during the past 12 months since joining the school last September, and it is so wonderful to see such success for our students who have been so committed to their work during this academic year.”

Ewan Macaulay, Head of Year 11 commented: “It was great to see the hard work pay off for our students; both with the excellent results in the reformed Maths and English qualifications and across many other subjects”.

Robin Newman added: “We now look forward to working with very many of our students as they join Haileybury Turnford Sixth Form, and wish others every success as they move onto college, an apprenticeship and work.  We wish this year group the very best for their futures”.

These exam results follow our A Level and vocational examination success for Year 13 students and shows the real progress Haileybury Turnford is making as an academy with our sponsor Haileybury.
