Year 13 students rewarded for their hard work

Haileybury Turnford is delighted to report very many outstanding achievements by its students in their A Levels and other qualifications today.

This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards.  The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.  Results are not comparable to previous years.

Robin Newman, Principal, said: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, during such a difficult and disrupted last 18 months.  They have showed such commitment and resilience and I am very proud of what they have achieved.  Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure students are all able to progress onto further study and employment.  We wish each of our students every success in the future beyond Haileybury Turnford.”

Sam Marendaz achieved A* A* A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics and will study Mathematics at University College London.  Abbie Wagstaff achieved A* A A in English Literature, History and Psychology and will read English Language and Linguistics at the University of Sussex.  Iasmina Khakipour achieved A* A A in Business, Economics and Accounting and has deferred a place to study Business with Marketing at City, University of London.  Millie Pickard achieved A* A B in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and will study Veterinary Nursing at Nottingham Trent University.  Natalia Michalik achieved A A B in Economics, Maths and Physics and will study Computer Science at Royal Holloway, University of London.  Tommy Jeffrey achieved A A A in Accountancy, Economics and Mathematics and wishes to start an apprenticeship.  Joshua Asiedu, Head Student, achieved A B B in English Literature, Economics and Psychology, and will start an apprenticeship with AON.  Cameron Evans-Hughes achieved Distinction * in BTEC Science, and grade As in Accountancy and Mathematics.  Ross Johnson achieved A A B in Mathematics, Physics and Art and will study Architecture at the University of Manchester. Twins, Bernice Boatin and Candice Boatin both achieved highly in the same A Level subjects – English Literature, Psychology and Sociology.  Bernice will now study Psychology at the University of Nottingham and Candice will read Education at the University of Birmingham.

Navpreet Shivalkar, Head of Sixth Form, added: “Our students have worked so very hard to adapt to their circumstances during this academic year.  We have witnessed real ambition from students, with very many accepting places at university in greater numbers than in previous years.  This results from the very high expectations and belief in our students from teaching staff.  Haileybury Turnford Sixth Form is providing life changing opportunities for its young people.”

Students still interested in applying to Year 12 for September 2021 should contact our Head of Sixth Form directly at shivalkarn@haileyburyturnford.com as some places are still available.  Haileybury Turnford welcomes applications from students who wish to follow both academic and vocational pathways.  Haileybury Turnford Sixth Form is judged “Good” by Ofsted.
